Silicon dioxide, like all other ingredients used in our products, is Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) by the Food and Drug Administration, and is a common food ingredient in thousands of products such as cheeses, pastries, cereals, etc. Silicon dioxide is also naturally found in many fruits and vegetables.
